Talking with Kids About Race

Talking openly about racism, bias and differences is critical to raising anti-racist children and transforming systems of oppression but it can also feel intimidating and uncomfortable for parents and caregivers.

Join MSU Extension for “Talking With Kids About Race” on July 26^th from 7-8:30PM EST. Parents and caregivers will learn about the following topics:

• What are social identities?
• What are racism and anti-racism?
• Why should I talk about race?
• How should I talk about race?

National Children's Day

Families will celebrate their children with fun outdoor activities focusing on nature and the great outdoors. Outdoor themed missions will be completed by household teams on the GooseChase app and allows teams a chance to win prizes! Mission themes: fishing, hiking, camping, water safety, wildflowers, sidewalk chalk art, reading, telling stories, listening, and much more. Missions can be completed any time from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2021. Families can participate from home, cabin, cottage, campground or wherever your family is located during this time! All that's needed for this program is a smart phone or tablet with a camera and internet connectivity!

Crafts Around the World

Do you enjoy arts and crafts?  Do you like learning about other cultures?  Then join us in the free Crafts Around the World Virtual Experience! Starting Wednesday, March 3rd and every Wednesday thru April 7^th from 5 to 6pm we will travel around the world learning about a culture and simple crafts. Participants 5-19 and adults are invited to register (younger youth may need help from parents/adults). Project Fish Program

Do you love fishing? Ever wonder what kind of fish we have in Michigan?  Ever have issues tying the best knot for your lines? Ever wanted to make a pop can caster rod? Then this is a program you won’t want to miss. Please come share my passion of fishing and get signed up.

Zoom sessions will start August 18^th and run every Tuesday until September 15th , with a new topic each week. We will meet via zoom from 1pm – 2pm This program is open to both 4-H and non 4-H youth, statewide, in grades k-12.
