New, Exciting COMMUNICATIONS CONTEST opens for registrations today!

***Sign up for one or all of the communication contests that start today and run through July 24^th.*** From cloverbuds to senior age divisions and a section for out-of-state participants as well.

1^st Contest - Prepared Public Speaking- Youth register, pick their own topic, record their speech and submit it via Facebook by June 19^th.

2^nd Contest- Predetermined Topic- Youth register and then are given a choice between three topics as early as June 15^th, they will record their speech and submit the video via Facebook by June 26^th .

3^rd Contest- Impromptu – Youth register, then the week of June 29^th contestants will be sent a zoom link and call time. They will connect via zoom and be given three fun easy topics to choose from. Contestants will wait in a waiting room to prepare their speech, which requires zero research, once time is up contestants are pulled into the main zoom room to perform their speech. This contest will be followed by a question/ answer session from the judges.  This is fun, interactive contest with simple fun topics so if you love public speaking or just want to give it a try this is fun place to start.

4^th Contest- Demonstration – Youth register, then will prepare their demonstrations, record them and upload their videos by July 10^th.

5^th Contest – Clowning/Acting- July 13-24^th. This contest will give new life to the art of clowning in 4-H and has added an acting section as well.  Watch for great resources and classes to be shared prior to the week of this contest and give clowning/acting a try even if you have never done it before.

This is a free contest with prizes to be mailed after the contest. Medals will be awarded for Gold(1^st), Silver(2^nd), and Bronze(3^rd) winners as well as award certificates to the top 10 in each category and participation certificates to everyone.

SHOW WHERE YOU ARE

The Kalkaska County 4-H Leadership Association is hosting a virtual lamb show to help prepare youth for their virtual fairs this summer!  Participants can enter showmanship, market, virtual buyer’s letter, and educational display/presentation categories.  (Buyer’s letters can be any species!).  All participants will be provided written feedback from judges. There are age divisions for cloverbuds, and a class for youth with special needs. Join us for the 15th annual celebration of MSU Extension 4-H Youth Development at the MSU Women’s Basketball game. The Spartans will host the Penn State Nittany Lions on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Breslin Center on MSU's campus. Game time is still to be determined (either 12 p.m. or 2 p.m.). Gates open 1.5 hours before tip-off, come early to enjoy all the fun activities going on around the concourse. Tickets are free to 4-H youth and their families, 4-H volunteers and MSU Extension staff and their families.

NEW THIS YEAR: 4-H members and guests will obtain their own tickets online. Use the ticket link to claim as many free tickets as desired. Once at the link, select the number of tickets required and click "add to cart." The tickets will be added to your cart, free of charge. Once done, click "CHECKOUT." Fill in your first and last name, email, and phone number. In the space that says “Let’s make it memorable. Name your event:” please type in your county followed by 4-H (ex. Ingham County 4-H). Once you name your event, you will need to fill in your address. When you fill out all the information on the screen completed, click "CONFIRM."

After you click confirm, you are all set! You will receive an email with your tickets. You can either scan your tickets off your phone once you arrive at the game or print them from your email and bring them to the game so they can be scanned at entry.
