PROGRAM REMINDER

Ractopamine (PayLean) Information Program for all youth planning on exhibiting pigs at the Hillsdale County Fair this year
Thursday, May 21, 2020 - 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Ractopamine is used with show pigs as a feed additive helping to tone the pig’s muscles. Livestock packers do no longer accept pigs which were fed with ractopamine (PayLean), since many pigs are being exported, but many countries are not accepting pigs fed with ractopamine. After discussion with packers and experts our swine superintendents and the Youth Division Fair Advisory Committee decided to ban the use of ractopamine (PayLean) for all pigs exhibited at the 2020 Hillsdale County Fair. To learn what this means for you and to learn more about the use or not use of ractopamine join the Ractopamine Information program on May 21st.

The program will be virtual and we will be using Zoom as platform.  For program access information please contact the MSU Extension Office at 517-439-9301 or email raymon65@msu.edu
