Ractopamine (PayLean) Information Program for all youth planning on exhibiting pigs at the Hillsdale County Fair this year

Ractopamine is used with show pigs as a feed additive helping to tone the pig’s muscles. Livestock packers do no longer accept pigs which were fed with ractopamine (PayLean), since many pigs are being exported, but many countries are not accepting pigs fed with ractopamine. After discussion with packers and experts our swine superintendents and the Youth Division Fair Advisory Committee decided to ban the use of ractopamine (PayLean) for all pigs exhibited at the 2020 Hillsdale County Fair.
