Household Hints - Save time, save money, save energy
To remove rust marks from clothing, squeeze lemon juice on the spots, pat with salt and hang the garment in the sun to dry.
Line freezer baskets with net so that small items do not fall through. A full, tightly packed freezer runs economically.

To make your own liquid hand soap, you need one (3.5 ounce) bar of soap (choose soap which contains moisturizing cream) and three cups of water. Grate soap, add water and microwave on high until well dissolved. Stir every two minutes. Cool and pour into a dispenser.
Change the color of cut flowers by adding a little food coloring to warm water and placing stems in the solution. Use light-colored blooms and not too much coloring.

To dry the insides of children's winter boots or summer rubbers quickly, put the hose of the vacuum cleaner into the boot and turn on the blower.
If peanut butter dries out, adding a spoonful of liquid honey will make the peanut butter moist again. Stir the honey in well.

Before you wear a new garment (or even on old ones) touch the center of each button, front and back, with clear nail polish. This will seal the threads and the buttons will stay on much longer.

When using honey in a recipe, run hot water over your measuring spoon or measuring cup first. The honey will then slide out easily.
Sweaters will not stretch on a clothesline if you string an old pair of hose through the arms, and pin the pantyhose - rather than the sweater - to the line.

Throw a dry bath towel into the dryer when drying a load. Laundry will dry a lot quicker, therefore saving power and wear on the dryer.
Mayonnaise is good conditioner for dry hair. Apply 1/2 cup to unwashed hair, cover with foil or plastic wrap, and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse off the mayonnaise, then shampoo.

Apply some paint to a piece of heavy white paper. Carry the swatch with you when shopping for furnishings that will match the paint.
Pour a few drops of Pine Sol in your wash water to remove grease or oil from clothes.
