If you have more bananas than you can eat, peel, mash them with a dash of lemon juice and freeze in airtight containers for up to six months. Use, defrosted, in recipes which call for ripe bananas.
To prevent tulip stems from curving, wrap them tightly in wet newspaper and stand in 2 in of warm water for a few hours. Then push a short pin through each stem, just below the flower, to let in air.
