Dining with Diabetes is a five-session course designed for people at risk of diabetes or who have diabetes, as well as their family members.
Through this class you will learn: the causes of diabetes, tools for managing diabetes, how to prepare healthy meals using less fat, how to make meals using less sodium and sugar without reducing flavor and enjoyment, and the importance of diet and exercise in managing diabetes.
You will also have the opportunity to sample a variety of healthy foods and take home recipes so that you can make them yourself.
All classes will be held at the MSU Extension Office, 20 Care Drive, Hillsdale, MI, on the following dates and times:
Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (3-month follow-up, necessary to complete series)
Cost: $25 per person.
